Questions like this, which fall under the heading of hypothesis testing, have provoked enormous controversy in the statistics community, which divides clearly into "Bayesians" and "Frequentists" when the subject comes up. I am completely persuaded by the Bayesian camp. Think about it some more. It's really a "fun think". More later.
