Subject: Dealer break rate From: David Morse <DMorse@learn21.com> Date: 1998/06/16 Message-ID: <pgpmoose.199806160853.11822@shell9.ba.best.com> Newsgroups: rec.gambling.blackjack.moderated Does clumping reduce the dealer break rate? Assumptions are that dbr is normally distributed with mean = .282 and variance = p* (1-p )/n = .282*.718/n = .2024/n null hypothesis is dbr > .282 alternative hypothesis is dbr < .282 reject the null hypothesis with a 95% confidence if the test statistic is less than .282 - 1.65 standard deviations. test statistic is dbr for 100 shoes on a busy weekend night. s = û(.282 * .718 / 100) = û.002024 = .0449 .282 - (1.645 * .0449) = .282 - .074 = .208 If the test dbr < .208 then one can be 95% confident that the dbr is reduced.
