Your ideas are perfectly sound and valid -- if you wish to play a "risk-averse" game, as many do.

It is very unfortunate that questioners on this topic, which has now come up in bj21 for at least the third or fourth time, cannot enjoy the benefit of Joel Friedman's landmark paper, "Risk-Averse Betting Strategies for the Game of Blackjack," which was published 17 years ago (!), in 1980.

In any event, your thinking is perfectly sound.
