Don will lose less frequently but have a bigger average loss. I like Don's plan better. These types of plans usually involve teams anyway, where you don't even have knowledge of the results of all your team mates. Waiting till something dramatic happens is more practical. You normally have time constraints. Cutting back means that it will take longer for you to win or lose. You will likely win back only a portion of what you lost because of the smaller bet sizes and run out of time before you make anything. It is rare that several people will have an infinite time horizon.

If you are playing as an individual and not a team it is best to completely forget the entire concept of a "trip". It has no significance. Just bet proportional to your entire bank for your alloted period of time.
